Wednesday Afternoon Hike at the Graveyard

"Graveyard Fields" is obviously a popular trail and a favorite as it offers many options and great scenery. It's adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Mount Pisgah. With its relatively open views and wide variety of hiking trails, Graveyard Fields is one of the most popular hiking areas in all of Western North Carolina. Located at Milepost 418.8 along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Graveyard is a high elevation valley close to Black Balsam and Tennent Mountains.

The great thing is there is no shortage of trails to explore in Graveyard Fields. While unofficial trails dot the valley, a good network of official trails are mostly in place. The loop for this event will be a bit different and start L at the Mountain to Sea Access trail, Then up a steep climb upwards on the Connector trail of about a half mile.

Then R on Graveyard Ridge, a flatter portion, and then back down on Mountains to Sea Section to the Sea Access Trail with a side journey to Yellow Stone Falls. What most people don't realize is most will say it is the most scenic waterfall to be seen of the 3 at The Graveyard. Yellowstone Falls is missed by many as there is there is no official trail to it. Then back to the bottom of Sea Access Section is the upper waterfall.

This is a moderate hike, 2.5 mph. Distance approximately 4 miles. We will take occasional breaks, especially at the waterfalls. Feel feel to pack a lunch.
