There is much national interest in managing data of value to researchers. Health and medical data provides greater challenges in managing, especially when the data is sensitive. This session examines and reports on the experiences of groups working with tools to support managing such sensitive data.

Speakers:

  1. UNSW Framework for secure health data analytics

ERICA (E-Research Institutional Cloud Architecture) is a package of scripts and software applications that provides a secure cloud (Amazon Web Services, AWS) computing environment for research. It was specifically designed to provide an appropriate level of security for research that uses sensitive microdata (for example health records) while taking advantage of the flexibility, scalability and cost-effectiveness of the AWS cloud computing platform.

2. Introducing Monash SeRP - the safe and secure r-research platform

The Monash Secure eResearch Platform (SeRP) is a high powered, safe and secure research platform that allows data owners and researchers to store, access, share, link and analyse data at scale, in a fully governed and highly secure environment whilst maintaining full control of the data at all times. Users can access the data from any computer and from any location without the data having to move with the user and allows for increased efficiency for collaborative research teams.
