Spark basics

This meetup will focus on the first steps using Spark. Bring your computer if you want to follow with us.

We are currently planning on having two presentations:

1] Getting started with Apache Spark

• Format: Presentation

• Presenter : Jean-Francois Rajotte

• Summary: Go over the basics from "getting things running" to data access (loading, saving and writing) and manipulations of the data abstraction such as RDDs and Dataframes. The presentation will demo examples highlighting essential features.

2] hands-on spark 101

• Format: Tutorial

• Presenter: Luis Da Costa

• Summary: TBD
