What we’re about
~ What are we about? ~
Hello, beautiful and brave soul.
This group is created to connect inspiring individuals who feel the yearning for deeper meaning in life, whose curiosity for the subtlest expressions of the human spirit moves them forward and ignites their spark. This group is for seekers and explorers, compassionate and creative beings. It is for sensitive as well as brave souls who want to expand their minds and hearts in order to bring more love and impactful change into the world.
~ The goal of this group ~
- To connect HSPs of Montreal;
- Help us develop our strengths by getting to know them in a safe environment, reading and discussing;
- Unwind by engaging in joyful creative projects that inspire us;
- Connect with our deeper selves through short meditations;
- Encourage each other to be our beautiful true selves.
The main idea behind this group is to create a safe, inspiring, authentic atmosphere for HSPs to support each other’s growth while simply creating from the heart by choosing an Art form that speaks to each of us individually and exploring books that focus on developing our strengths (empathetic listening, deep compassion, counselling).
*Please note that this group is intended mainly for people who share high sensitivity trait (HSP) to a greater or lesser extent.
How do you know if you're an HSP?
A highly sensitive person (HSP) is an individual who is thought to have an increased or deeper central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional, or social stimuli. The term highly sensitive person was first coined by psychologists Elaine Aron and Arthur Aron in the mid-1990s.
Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) are thought to make up roughly 20% of the general population. It is less common to be a highly sensitive person, and society tends to be built around people who notice a little less and are affected a little less deeply.
There are several traits or characteristics common to HSPs, according to the researchers who identified this personality trait:
- Avoiding violent movies or TV shows because they feel too intense and leave you feeling unsettled;
- Being deeply moved by beauty, either expressed in art, nature, or the human spirit;
- Being overwhelmed by sensory stimuli like noisy crowds, bright lights, or uncomfortable clothing;
- Feeling a need for downtime (not just a preference), especially when you have hectic days; needing to retreat to a dark, quiet room;
- Having a rich and complex inner life, complete with deep thoughts and strong feelings that go with them.
Dr. Aron also developed a highly sensitive person test, or a personality questionnaire to help people identify themselves as HSPs. It is known as Aron’s Highly Sensitive Persons Scale (HSPS):

~ What will we do? ~
Every now and then we will gather and bring our favorite creative projects (crafts or drawings, notebooks with poetry or novels in progress, music instruments - whatever brings you joy at the moment!) to work on in a creative, supportive atmosphere. Each time we'll be choosing a book or a little chapter to dive into and discuss while crafting something with our hands, or strumming chords on the guitar!
If you feel inspired to create together and grow with a supportive group, to be curious and explore what gifts your sensitivity brings, this space is for you :)
