Welcome! This is a group for Latin dancing (Samba, Chachacha, Rumba, Jive, Pasodoble). We're hosting affordable classes for everyone because we all deserve more drums, more spectacle, more dramatics, more spice, more passion, more beauty, more expression, more boldness, more spirit, more beat, more groove, more shake, more hips, more style, more suave, more awe, more Aliveness, more Life. don't you agree ?
This is a dance for Two: a Leader and a Follower
Gender is not exclusif to either roles. Men are welcome to dance with Women, Men are welcome to dance with Men, Women are welcome to dance with Women, and Non-Binary people are welcome to dance with Non-Binary people or Men or Women. Point is, it's a safe space to follow your highest excitement :) Traditionally, the Leader plays a Masculine role, and the Follower plays a Feminine role. Both roles have different steps, styling, character, energy, accents etc... Have fun with the role play, explore what you like, or stick to what you prefer; to each their own. Each dance has a storyline of its own, you'll see it's fun. COME WITH YOUR PARTNER OR COME BY YOURSELF, AND WE'LL PARTNER YOU UP.
Here's how the Class goes, in order:
Each class will be about 1 of the 5 dances listed above.
- stretching and warming up
- we show you the piece of choreography that you'll be doing by the end of the class
- we start practicing some basic steps that are at the foundation of the choreo: we explore the technique, the counting of the beat, and we get comfortable doing repetitions.
- we learn the choreo : leaders alone, followers alone.
- leaders dance with followers, slow tempo, repetitions
- normal tempo, repetitions.
- you have the option to film yourself doing the choreo before you leave
- goodbyes <3
Shoes
If you have latin dance shoes, great! if not, great too : bring socks, or heels, or comfortable sport shoes that you can change into. Point is, you'll have to change your outside shoes to come in

Next class is taking place at MAI. Room 223
MAI is located at 3680 Jeanne-Mance Street in Montreal. The centre is one block north of Prince Arthur Street and one block east of Parc Avenue.

There is only a small amount of parking available on the streets around MAI. There is also paid parking nearby.
