MMB Fruita Weekend-Adventure FEST at 18 Road!

Details

Monument Mountain Bikers,

There is a great event on May 11-12th in Fruita called the Adventure FEST at 18 Road. Check out the following link:

https://geminiadventures.com/run/adventure-fest

There are both MTB rides and running events. For MTB'ers, there are two rides, a 50K XC ride called the Sarlacc Attack and a 22K XC ride called the Zippity. The 50K ride has a lot of climbing with 4400 ft of elevation and the 22K has about 1000ft. There's the Dirty Edge 50K gravel ride and also a trail half-marathon running event on Sunday as well.

I will be entered into the 50K Sarlacc Attack and we have some verbal commitments from a few other MMB's to attend as well.

If you want to register for any of the rides/runs, you can use this link:

We felt that regardless of whether or not you decide to enter one of the rides, if you've never been to Fruita to ride some of the amazing MTB trails, this would be a great opportunity!

The following MTB rides are within 10-15 minutes of Fruita:

  • 18 Road Trails
  • Colorado National Monument (drive the canyon rim road on the way back, you'll be glad you did)
  • Lunch Loops in Grand Junction

The MTB event will be held at the 18 Road Trailhead and there are miles of great MTB or hiking trails from beginner to advanced terrain.

This would be a great spring weekend to get away and explore the great desert riding of Fruita!

The MMB's will not be organizing any group lodging/camping, so you'll have to plan your own. There are open and reserved campsites at 18 Road as well as other camping areas near Fruita.

There are five hotels in the Fruita area and plenty of Airbnb or VRBO properties as well.

My wife and I have already booked a 2BR Airbnb for the weekend at $159/night.

The MMB's will host a dinner on Friday evening at Hot Tomato Pizza, a very popular place with indoor/outdoor seating in the old downtown area of Fruita. There are a lot of restaurants, bars/brewpubs and shops in the old downtown area of Fruita. It's a pretty cool little town!

Please RSVP if you plan on attending regardless of participation in the MTB or running events.
