Our annual hike to Santa Paula Punch Bowls is coming up!
What to expect:
I will be picking attendees who are carpooling (4 max) up at the butt crack of dawn (7 am) and we'll all set out together on a 2 hour road trip to Santa Paula. Those who are not carpooling will meet at the entrance at 9am where we'll set off on our hike that's about 12 miles of a variety of terrain ranging from sandy trails, to climbing boulders and balancing on logs to cross streams and rivers. This hike takes about 3 hours to reach our destination which is a triangle of waterfalls. The one we'll be going to is the lower one (pictured in the photo above).
This trail is considered difficult, although I've seen families bring their infants and dogs, but use your best judgement and consider your own body's capabilities.
What to bring:
- Proper hiking shoes/tennis shoes (NO VANS! OH MY GOD!)
- Wear proper hiking attire: sports bra/tank top/t-shirt, running shorts/board shorts
- WATER and more water
- Sunblock, sunglasses, and water
- Sturdy and comfortable backpack to store extra socks/clothes, snacks, flashlight, beach towel and WATER
- You'll also need WATER
*if you plan on swimming, wear your bathing suit under your clothes*
*there are no public restrooms so expect to pee behind a bush or boulder*
