The Life and Works of Fyodor Dostoevsky

Details

Step into the world of one of literature’s most profound and provocative voices.
In this special in-person meetup, we’ll explore the dramatic life and timeless works of Fyodor Dostoevsky — the great 19th-century Russian writer whose ideas still resonate powerfully today.

I’m not an academic expert, but I’m proud to be a member of the North American Dostoevsky Society, and I’ve immersed myself in his world — having read a dozen of his works, including the major novels The Brothers Karamazov, Crime and Punishment, The Idiot, and Demons. Based on these readings, I’ll be sharing valuable insights into his extraordinary life and complex literary legacy.

Whether you’re a long-time reader of Dostoevsky, or you’ve never picked up one of his books, this event is for you. You don’t need to be a fan or a scholar to join — just bring your curiosity!
We’ll explore together: Why is Dostoevsky an essential writer of the 19th century?

What to expect:

  • A lively, accessible presentation of Dostoevsky’s life story: from Siberian exile to literary fame.
  • Guided discussions around major themes in his work.
