Getting started with Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency

Hi Meetup members,

I hope you are enjoying our first snow of the year. We have 80 people that have RSVP'd for the event on Monday at Horseshoe Tavern in Morristown. Contrary to what I previously reported, we will be UPSTAIRS. I haven't been in the space before, but I'm told I can connect to a TV to show a few slides. Nothing fancy- but I have about 20 mins of content to share based on the input I received and happy to have a large group discussion go as long as it goes. The rest of the time will be informal networking.

It's hard to believe that Bitcoin has nearly doubled in value since this young Meetup was created less than a month ago. This is an exciting place and time.

I recommend parking at Dalton Garage at 24 Cattano Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960 if you can't find a spot on the street.

Hi ALL-

This is my first Meetup, so be patient with me. I reserved Horseshoe Tavern in Morristown, first floor. We are sharing with one other event but there should be plenty of room. Cash bar, drinks and food available- it's appreciated to patronize the establishment- they are not charging us for facility.

5 minutes: Welcome & Intros
5 minutes: History of Blockchain / Bitcoin
20 minutes: Best Practices for Buying / Storing Bitcoin, Q&A, Getting Started, etc.
10 minutes: OPEN FORUM / Ideas for future Meetups and topics
Remainder of Time: Networking & Marketplace (buy/sell Bitcoin for cash- market rate)

Horseshoe Tavern does have an "upstairs" that allows for video presentations, but it is booked on this day. In the future, we can book this for more in-depth topics.
