Tuesday Nite Hikes: Lake Artemesia via RI Trolley trl (College Park)

Details

This 5mi easy hike @530p SHARP is flat & paved. Pace: 3mph. The trek traverses the old Rhode Island Trolley line east of the UMD campus beginning with a ramped- switchback pedestrian bridge, then visits a train station-- be alert for trains! It's a mixture of new & old as historic homes along the way share space with Metro Purple Line construction. Latter of the circuit parallels the Northeast Branch of the Anacostia River leading to Lake Artemesia, a resplendent recreational retreat. Highlights include the MD Fire and Rescue Institute, the College Park Airport (purported as "world's oldest continually operating airport"), & theatrical turtles. A birder's ball! | MAP

NOTES:
1. Expect rush hour traffic
2. Opt. post-social @Tacos a la Madre | If eating here, park opposite of restaurant on street then walk (.5mile/ 12min) to trailhead/ parking lot meeting spot. Route 1 has road- work, anticipate extra commute time!
3. This Meetup event is cross- listed, RSVP w/ only 1 group.

A 'yes/ attending' RSVP is your digital signature that you've read, understood, & agreed to the Liability Wavier hyperlinked here.
