Historical Hike w/ Picnic: C&O Towpath in Hancock, MD

Details
This ~4.5mile easy hike is nearly both all flat & paved. Pace: 3mph. The trek traverses the town of Hancock. After a meander on Main Street the hike wanders along the Western MD Rail Trail then bops by the Bowels House, which offers an opportunity to "stand in a lock". Latter of the circuit spurs to the ruins of a lachrymose Lock (#51) House before paralleling the Potomac river, eventually viewing lustrous lily pads. The trek concludes with a BYO picnic for Lunch (tables, grills, & restrooms available). Highlights include a pocket park, a tiny trestle, & an apt aqueduct*. A historical hike!
