Across many south asian communities, conversations, connections, and community are formed over chai — warm cups of tea shared slowly, hearts opening through simple presence. The Chai Ecstatic Kirtan draws from this spirit of togetherness, inviting us to gather in devotion, sound, and shared warmth in community.
With what the world is seeing around, this is an effort to remember the simplicities of life, gathering and moments of togetherness over a heart centered kirtan circle.
This offering is part of Bhakti, Sound & Soma Thursdays by Mokshajyoti. The kirtan gathering meets every first and third Thursday.

Bhakti Yoga is the yoga of divine love — a path of opening the heart through devotion, music, connection, and the remembrance that we are held by something larger than ourselves. One of its most joyful practices is kirtan: a call-and-response style of mantra singing that helps us drop out of the thinking mind and into the vibration of the heart.

Join Mokshajyoti of Moss & Moksha for a vibrant, heart-opening evening of embodied, ecstatic kirtan, inspired by traditional Indian melodic rhythms. This is not a quiet or passive experience — it is a rhythmic, communal singing circle rooted in the Bhakti Yoga tradition.
Together, we’ll chant simple mantras, drum, clap, and sing like a living choir. Expect a warm, earthy, tribal-inspired atmosphere where voices weave together, rhythms pulse, and music becomes a shared prayer — held in the same spirit as sitting together over chai.
We’ll journey from quiet meditation into ecstatic sound, rhythm, and spontaneous movement, allowing the body to express what words cannot.

#### What makes this gathering unique:

  • Earthy, tribal-inspired kirtan with drums, shakers, movement, and communal rhythm
  • A welcoming, inclusive community atmosphere — sing loudly, softly, or simply listen
  • Optional reflection and sharing to deepen connection and belonging
  • Shakers and small instruments provided
  • Children warmly welcome — a beautiful way for young ones to explore rhythm and voice
(Children attend free with caregiver presence, as long as they are comfortable with sound, music, singing, and moments of stillness during meditation.)

No musical or mantra experience is needed. Just bring your voice, your breath, and your openness — and enjoy chai together as part of our shared community time.
