Mothers and daughters get creative join Newtown's Art Class 10.00 am Saturday

Hullo to all group members,

This coming Saturday I am combining the two groups that I run in Newtown, having a very suitable theme for all.

Our theme is "Changing Seasons" and if we are to look at that in a metaphorical way, there is so much to explore and so much richness to be gained.

I hope some of you would like to come along and enjoy this creative exploration.

Welcome to Mothers and Daughters get creative,

I have been running art therapy groups in the inner west for about 10 years and as I have had quite a few requests from women, who want to join their daughters in creativity, or vice versa, I have decided to start this group.

The mother daughter bond is a unique one and It is my intention to create the space to come together on a creative journey, which gives you something different to the normal everyday experience. It is an opportunity to open a different door into eachother's world of imagination.

A theme will be introduced and you will be taken into a somatic meditation and then a visualisation, which will take you to a place in your imagination of imagery, or whatever way it is that you express your imagination. You will then have time to create a drawing, painting or collage, including bringing in automatic writing and poetry.

You will come together towards the end of the session to work together, sharing thoughts and ideas, with no analysis. You will share your different visual responses and stories, gaining insights for yourself and recognising each other's different perspectives, in an honouring and playful, curious way.

I am looking at all ages, from 10 up. There is something very lovely about a community of creative people coming together across all ages, cultivating the wisdom that comes out, when creating art.
