ADV Ride Section 2 BDR/Cloudcroft - Lincoln National Forest Road Ride

ADV/Road Ride Motorcycle Trip – Cloudcroft, NM
Saturday May 23 – Monday, May 25, 2026

This will be a combined ADV and Road Ride. Road and ADV riders will travel together from Albuquerque to Alamogordo on Saturday and return together on Monday. On Monday, after lunch in Willard, the group may split, with the ADV riders taking an off-pavement excursion before continuing back to Albuquerque.
On Sunday, the Road Riders will take the scenic high road to Cloudcroft and through the Lincoln National Forest, led by Charmaine, while the ADV group will ride a large portion of Section 2 of the BDR. The hotel rate is very reasonable, and several restaurants are within walking distance.
Please bear with us as this is our first attempt at combining Road and ADV riders on a single trip.

## Saturday, May 23, 2026

Meet at 8:30AM Pre Ride Briefing at 8:45 and we leave at 9:00 – Meet at Pilot Fuel Stop 9220 Broadway Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87105

• Fuel stop in Carrizozo
• Continue on Highway 380 to Carrizozo (fuel stop if needed).
• Proceed to Alamogordo.
  Hotel Check-In – Arrive at The Classic Desert Aire Hotel (1021 S White Sands Blvd, Alamogordo, NM 88310, +1 575-437-2110).
  6:00 PM – Meet in hotel lobby for a short walk to dinner at Applebee’s.

## Sunday, May 24, 2026 ADV Ride

7:00 AM – Meet in hotel lobby for breakfast.
7:45 AM – Pre-ride briefing.
8:00 AM (KSU) – Ride itinerary:

• Hwy 54 south to Hwy 82 east.
• Continue to West Side Rd. and turn south onto the BDR route.
• Ride approximately 40 miles at elevations near 9,300 ft.
• Pass through Weed, NM, then take Cox Canyon Rd back to Cloudcroft.
  Return to Hotel – Rest and refresh.
  6:00 PM – Group dinner at D.H. Les Combes Winery & Bistro, located within walking distance of the hotel.

## Sunday, May 24, 2026 Road Ride

8:00 AM – Meet in hotel lobby for breakfast.
8:45 AM – Pre-ride briefing.
9:00 AM (KSU) – Ride itinerary:

• Hwy 54/70 north to Hwy 82 east.
• Continue to Mayhill turning south on Hwy 130.
• Turn left on Hwy 24 and ride through Weed, Avis, Pinon, & Dunken.
• Left on Hwy 82 through Elk and back to Mayhill.
• South on Hwy 130 again where we'll turn right and travel through the Chippeway Park and back to Cloudcroft.
• Tour The Burro Street Exchange, 505 Burro Ave. in Cloudcroft.
• Lunch at Mad Jack's Mountaintop Barbecue, 105 James Canyon Hwy in Cloudcroft.
• Catch Hwy 244 north to Hwy 70.
• Left on Hwy 70 through Mescelaro and Tularosa and onto Hwy 54/70.
• This ride is completing a "figure 8" covering 120 miles from Cloudcroft and back for fuel. Stops can happen along the way for breaks, but there are no services open on Sunday. We will check to see if Mayhill has fuel/bathroom when we pass through.
• It will be 50 miles back to the hotel after lunch taking Hwy 244.
  Return to Hotel – Rest and refresh.
  6:00 PM – Group dinner at D.H. Les Combes Winery & Bistro, located within walking distance of the hotel.

## Monday, May 25, 2026

7:00 AM – Meet in the hotel lobby for breakfast.
8:00 AM (KSU) – Depart for return trip to Albuquerque.

• Stop in Carrizozo for fuel and a short break.
• Continue on to Willard for Lunch.
• FR-245 is a dirt/gravel Forest Service road from Manzano to
• Capella Peak and New Canyon campgrounds. It’s narrow, steep, and hazardous for large RVs. Seasonal closures occur in winter or wet conditions; high-clearance vehicles are recommended.
• Estancia for another fuel stop and rest.
• Resume the ride back to Albuquerque.
