Story Trail 10th Anniversary Celebration + Short Hike - Long Hunter State Park

Details
Join us for this free fun family event featuring a story trail hike, nature booths, fun hands-on activities and crafts for children, face painting, and some VERY SPECIAL guests!
Ten years ago Long Hunter State Park Ranger Leslie Anne Rawlings created the first story trail in Tennessee, and now there are 54 throughout the state. On July 12th, Long Hunter will celebrate the 10th anniversary with a free special program from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The park will also unveil this year's story book, Pitter and Patter, written by Martha Sullivan and illustrated by Cathy Morrison.
The story trail is designed for families and children who can follow the easy ¼-mile trail and combine their love of reading with outdoor exercise. It’s also a great way to connect with the park’s natural resources as the trail features a variety of trees, flowers, wildlife, and rare cedar glade habitat.
Long Hunter’s story trail has been supported by local libraries, as well as Imagination Library of Middle Tennessee, Wilson Books from Birth, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, and the Governor's Early Literacy Foundation, all of which promote early childhood literacy.
If you know any families with kids who are interested in reading and/or nature, please help us spread the word about this unique event.
We hope you can join us!
