Each writer will have ten minutes to read their work.

Each participant will then have five minutes to provide feedback about the work that has been read.

In order to keep the meeting timely and moving smoothly, the event organizer will be using a timer to ensure that everyone has their allotted time, no more or less.

If there is not enough time for all participants to read their work, a randomizer will be used to choose the order participants read in. Anyone who does not get a chance to read will be put on a priority list to read first at the next meeting they attend. If the venue allows and all group participants agree, we may stay up to an extra half an hour in order to make sure more people have a chance to read.

It is recommended to bring printouts of your work to pass around if possible. Sharable links to online documents are also recommended if you don't have print outs although neither are necessary. It is recommended to bring a notebook and writing tool or a laptop and charger in order to take notes while the work is being read.

Any writing is accepted, however as most writers in the group are fiction writers it is probably not the best place to receive feedback on nonfiction.

If any work contains any potentially upsetting themes or language, the writer is responsible for providing a content warning before reading their work. If a group participant feels that the content will be inappropriate for them they are encouraged to leave the room while the work is being read.

No content that is racist, homophobic, misogynistic, or otherwise hateful will be accepted. We understand that characters in fiction may hold beliefs and views or use language that we would not endorse as people in the real world, and so each work will be considered on a case by case basis. However, work that has an obvious intent of being hateful or which includes slurs in any capacity will never be permitted.

It is the writer's responsibility to bring any concerns about content to the event organizer before reading work that may contain potentially sensitive themes. Work that contains graphic violence, sex, or swearing that does not include slurs will be permitted as long as group participants are willing to listen and provide feedback on that work.

For any questions, concerns, or feedback please contact the event organizer (Amanda) through meetup.
