Let us travel somewhat farther afield this month to visit one of the most unearthly landscapes in the Southwest. Some might think of Ezekiel 37. That God has the power to bring life and hope in alien places is part of our faith.
Logistics: This is a much longer drive than the usual Mountain Cathedrals (round trip is 365 miles, or almost 6 hours). The hike is not particularly strenuous, but is off-trail in badlands (plan on 5 - 6 hours of walking). Meet at the St. John's UMC (Albuquerque) east parking lot at 6:30 AM or at the trailhead at 9:30 AM (Google maps: Bisti Badlands Trailhead). Plan to be back at St. John's around 6:30 PM (refuel en route back). Bring a solid lunch and snacks, as well as sun protection, jacket, sturdy shoes/boots, and plenty of water.
Note: If this area has significant precipitation in the week prior, we will select a backup hike.
Please join us for this hike of meditation, wilderness, and time apart from our normal schedules.
Organizer: Mike Furnish, 505-440-7292; [mdfurnish@comcast.net.](mailto:mdfurnish@comcast.net)
The following hikes will be March 15th (TBD), April 20 (Easter Sunrise walk to Travertine Falls), April 26th (Labyrinth Day), and May 18th (Tapia Canyon?)
