Mountain Cathedrals Hike - Paliza Canyon Goblin Colony

Details
Some paths in our lives are well worn, and others are less so. Let us walk in a region of lightly traveled physical paths to and through the Paliza Canyon Goblin Colony, a wonderous landscape of Ponderosa pines and tent rocks in the Bandelier rhyolite in the southern Jemez Mountains. Perhaps we will find new insight into the spiritual paths of being in prayer with our Lord, through the beauty around us, our fellow travelers, and the nature of a time set aside.
Logistics: Meet at the St. John's UMC (Albuquerque) east parking lot at 8:00 a.m., or at the trailhead (10 miles NE of Jemez Pueblo – contact organizer for details) at 9:25. Plan to be back at the parking area by 2:30 and St. John's by 3:45. The hike is easy to moderate (3.5 – 4 miles, 500 feet elevation gain), but it includes some light scrambling. Bring sun protection, lunch, water, a parka, trekking poles (optional), and enthusiasm!
Please join us for this hike of meditation, wilderness, and time apart from our normal schedules.
Organizer: Mike Furnish, CLM, 505-440-7292; [mdfurnish@comcast.net](mailto:mdfurnish@comcast.net). Please RSVP, especially if meeting us at the trailhead.
Save the date: The next Mountain Cathedrals hikes will be October 18 and November 8 (locations TBD - please send suggestions!).
