Please join us at noon (right after the 11:00 service) in the St. Johns East Parking Lot to carpool to the Canyon Estates Trailhead above Tijeras. The Faulty Loop route is moderately strenuous (5.6 miles with 1,150 feet of elevation gain [we may extend this slightly], and the trail is moderately rocky). Of special interest are about a dozen "medallion trees" near the trail at various spots. These trees have plaques showing germination date and an interesting historical event of that year. We'll use a trail GPS to locate these. Plan to be back at St. John’s by 7:30. Bring lunch, maybe a second sandwich, water, sun protection, and possibly trekking poles. Since we'll be returning to the cars after dark (good star viewing?), a flashlight or headlamp would be useful as well.
How is it that what we say and hear can so profoundly affect others and ourselves, for better or worse? Pondering such questions in the wilderness can shed new light on them.
This trip is joint with the St. John's "Adulting" group.
