About us

Welcome to Mountain Escapes!
I'm an avid hiker with a keen interest in climbing the UK's mountains who would like to meet with other like minded people (hiking on my own can be tiresome!)
Everyone is welcome to join regardless of age, fitness level or experience (although you'll need have some good footwear, suitable clothing for the season/days weather & fit enough to carry yourself up the mountains!!)

I plan to be in the mountains at least once a month - more when the weather is good!!
All proposed routes will be flexible according to the weather, group ability or just how we feel on the day but with the aim of at least one key peak.
I'm based in Stafford, and more that happy to drive / car share with anyone willing.

So if it's your first time hiking or you have years of experience and would like to join me on some adventures - reach out!!!
Suggestions for any routes you would like to do are always welcome.

Eryri/Snowdonia - Carnedd Llewelyn via Pen yr Helgi Du and Carnedd Dafydd

A5 layby - near the base of Tryfan, Ogwen Valley, Betws-y-Coed, GB
It's been a few weeks since I've managed to get out, and I'm in dire need to return to the mountains!

The plan is to reach Carnedd Llewelyn, the 2nd highest peak in Wales, standing at 1064 meters.

I plan to follow the Cambrian Way up Pen yr Ole Wen and Carnedd Dafydd until we reach Carnedd Llewelyn, where we will return via Pen yr Helgi Du to where we started.
The route is 16 km with just over 1000 meters of ascent and will take about 7 hours plus any breaks.

It's a steep, long hike up to the first peak, following which we should have some amazing views for the rest of the day.
I hopeful that there will be a break in the weather for next weekend, I'll keep an eye on the forcast and post any updates towards the ened of the week.
