Overnight - Mt. Stirling and Mt. Buller Circuit G4/G5 - Scramble/semi off track

Details

This will be an amazing overnight (2 day) walk through footpads, 4WD roads, nature walks and off tack sections from river valleys to the high peaks and back down again. Great views if not some of the best of the Alps from Stirling as well as Buller. I'm re building my fitness, so don't expect this to be done at a fast pace LOL.

(i'll update some broekn links below shortly)

We'll be going high for the best views, It would suit people with some experience. Not suitable for beginners.

Its also semi-exploratory as I have not walked the Delatite river section to Mt. Stirling summit before as well as the McLoughlin shoulder from Buller summit to the Klingsporn track. The Delatite river section should be a G4 track and the shoulder section will be a G5 requiring off track navigation and probably some mild bush bashing. Other sections should be around G3.

Day 1 will be about 14km with an altitude gain of 1100m and we'll camp- near Mt. Stirling summit - Bluff Spur Hut. If we're buggerred then Howqua Gap Hut. There will probably be multiple river crossings some of which are bridged.

Day 2 will be around 18km and we'll drop down to Howqua Gap hut and then have lunch at Mt. Buller village and then tackle the summit and perhaps a scramble before heading down again to Buller resort gates. Ascending about 1000m and descending about 1750 in total.

There may still be snow around. Updates and details will be sent on the Wednesday before the trip via email. No shows will be removed from the group. Take yourself off the going list >48 hours befpore the start to give other people the chance to come along.

We will meet at Carters Mill campground near the Buller resort gates at 7 a.m. We'll probably leave cars near the start of the Klingsporn track
