About us
Ek mehfil, jahan alfaaz azaad hain. (A gathering where words are free.)
About This Group:
Love Hindi poetry? Whether you write your own kavita, have a favorite piece memorized, or just want to sit back and feel something — this is your space.
Hindi Poetry Open Mic is a casual, low-key creative hangout for young professionals and creatives in the Bay Area who connect with Hindi poetry. No stage experience needed. No pressure to perform. Just people, good energy, and poetry that hits.
What to expect:
Each meetup is simple. Show up, sign up to share if you want — or just come to listen. Honestly, some of the best evenings are when you’re just in the audience soaking it all in. You can share original work, recite a classic, or read something you just found on Instagram that morning. No rules, no competition.
This is for you if:
You write Hindi kavita, shayari, or spoken word and want a space to share it. You grew up hearing poetry at home and want to reconnect with that feeling. You love listening to poetry but never thought there was an event “for you” — there is now.
Format:
Open mic style — sign up at the door, 3-5 minutes per person. Listeners are just as important as speakers; every mehfil needs both. We’ll meet monthly somewhere in the South Bay, likely between San Jose and Mountain View. The exact venue will be decided based on the number of people signing up — so RSVP and we’ll go from there.
Language: Primarily Hindi. Hindustani and Hindi-Urdu blends welcome.
Who’s behind this?
Hi, I’m Abhishek — I write original shayari and have been looking for a community of young, creative, poetry-loving people in the Bay Area. Couldn’t find one, so I’m building it. If you’ve been waiting for the same thing, come through.
