Emotional Eating Ladies (Monthly Online Meetings) - Self-Talk
Details
Connect with like-minded women who are also on the path to ending emotional stress eating. No need to prepare, just come as you are, you are welcomed here! 🩷
Many of us don’t just struggle with food—we struggle with the voice in our head that comments on everything we eat, how we look, how we show up, and whether we’re ‘doing enough.’
That inner critic often sounds convincing, urgent, and loud. But it didn’t appear out of nowhere. It usually developed as a way to protect us—trying to keep us safe, accepted, or in control.
Todya isn’t about silencing that voice or forcing positive affirmations that don’t feel true. Instead, we’re practicing something more realistic and more healing: curiosity, neutrality, and kindness.
We’ll explore what it might look like to speak to ourselves the way we would speak to a dear friend—or even a younger version of ourselves. And we’ll consider small, doable choices we can make today that our future selves might quietly thank us for.
There’s no right answer here. Just notice what comes up.
Guidelines for the group:
1. Speak from your own experience
2. Refrain from using numbers (calories, weight, etc). Numbers lead to comparison and we are here to support.
3. Refrain from specific foods, instead say "comfort foods", "safe foods", "trigger foods" etc,
4. Please limit share to two-minutes.

Questions to consider:
-
If your inner critic had a name or personality, how would you describe it?
When does it show up most strongly around food or your body? -
What do you think your inner critic is trying to protect you from—even if its methods are unhelpful?
-
What’s one common critical thought you have about yourself—and what might a more neutral version of that thought sound like?
(Not positive—just less harmful.) -
How does your body or nervous system respond when you speak to yourself with criticism versus neutrality or compassion?
-
When you think about your younger self, what messages did she receive about food, body, or worth?
How might those messages still be influencing you today? -
If your inner child were sitting next to you during a difficult eating moment, what do you wish an adult had said to her?
-
What is one small, realistic thing you could do today that your future self might thank you for—not related to weight or appearance?
-
When you imagine your future self, how do you think she speaks to herself differently than you do right now?
-
If your best friend were struggling with food or body image the way you are, what would you never say to her—but often say to yourself?
-
What would it look like this week to show yourself the same patience, understanding, or grace you offer others so freely?
