MTB Weekend Lötschental

The weather forecast for this weekend is very good in the Lötschental valley.
This will be a 2 days riding weekend, covering the full Lötschental valley and using the available gondolas to gain altitude.

Day 1:
Take the train from Zürich HB at 8:30 to Hohtenn. From Hohtenn bike down to Gampel to take the Jeizinen gondola.
From Jeizinen we will ride all the way to Kippel, there are around 900 meters of climbing to be expected.

Day 2:
On Sunday, we will take the gondola to Lauchernalp, there are 2 gondolas per hour at xx:25 and xx:55 and we will ride direction to Fafleralp, there will be some climb at the begining but later mostly will be down. Around 500 meters of climb are to be expected.
From Fafleralp, we can decide to continue riding a bit towards the glacier or start going back on the gravel road towards Goppenstein, where we will finish the tour and take the train back to Zürich.

For lunch, depending on the motivation of the group, we can either decide to stop at some restaurant on our way (if any) or we can choose to find a nice spot and eat some snacks.

Biking level: The tour is expected to be intermediate+ level and should be fine for anyone used to mountain bike red/black and intermediate+ trails, there will be a couple more difficult black sections and can be walked with no shame :) . The pace will be relaxed to enjoy the day.

Accomodation: You are responsible to book your own accomodation, Kippel would be ideal as on Sunday we start taking the gondola there.

What to bring: Helmet, bike in good condition, spare tube and tools, water, rain jacket, snacks, etc
