Austin Ridge Riders - Walnut Creek Trail Maintenance

Great News! The Austin Ridge Riders has been awarded a grant from the Austin Parks Foundation to rehabilitate the trails at Walnut Creek Park. Volunteer hours are one component of the grant funded project.

The trails at Walnut Creek Park need some TLC! The Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club will provide tools and guidance in sustainable trail stewardship.

Needed maintenance to the trail includes drainage and erosion improvements, maintenance of berms, trimming back of "face slappers" encroaching on the trail, and cleaning up litter along the trails.

We have a need for rock work at the main creek crossing. Anyone who is interested in moving large rocks is especially encouraged to participate.

There will be a special task for those not allergic to poison ivy. The rest of us will steer clear of that particular plant!

Remember to wear closed toed shoes, long pants, bring water, and dress appropriately for the weather. We will provide tools and gloves, but if you have tools and gloves, please bring them too. We find that rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows are often in short supply.

If you would like to bring a child, please carefully consider which project you choose. Children must be with a parent at all times.

We will meet up at 8 am at the Pool Parking Lot. We will form teams to head out to different areas of the trail system.
