Barton Creek Greenbelt (Sculpture Falls Parking Lot) Advanced ride level
Hosted by Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club
Details
The trail is much more technical than Walnut. The trail has some nasty drops, tough climbs, roots and rocks, so this group is not for beginners. I recommend knee and elbow pads to accompany your helmet. We will be riding various trails, dump truck, hill of life, violet crown, ect..
People always ask me for an idea of what skills you need for an intermediate ride at the greenbelt, so here it is. Should be able ride 1-2 ft drops and have the technical skill to needle through a rock garden while muscling through a switchback. Its is more about balance and bike control than speed. You expend twice the energy as riding at Walnut. If your still not sure, check out some YouTube videos.
All that being said, its fun and rewarding to conquer terrain and builds confidence for other trails.
I would estimate 11-18 miles 2-2.5 hrs. of sweaty nasty, fun riding.
Please ensure you have an extra tube for the ride.
All riders must bring a trail-worthy bike, closed-toe shoes, water and a helmet, protective eye wear. This is not an official sanctioned ride.
