Lake Georgetown Trails- Tejas Park Trail Head - Slow Intermediate level
Hosted by Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club
Details
*UPDATE 6-24-16 * This is an unsanctioned ride. Ride at your own risk.
Since we can't do the entire loop, I thought we could sleep in another 30 min !! Sorry for all the changes..
The entire trail is not passable due to high water from rains over the past 2 weeks (I talked with the trail steward today) so it will have to be an out and back ride, but we will try to get in at least 10mi. Wheels down at 9:00 am. Not in any hurry, but most say it takes at least 4 hours to do the full 27mi loop.
Bring at least one spare tube and enough water for a 12 mi ride before refilling along with the usual tools to self support (there's limited water on the southwest side where we are starting). Water is usually available on the north side.
Helmet, eye protection and water required. Knee and elbow pads recommended.
When: Arrive by 8:30am to prepare yourself and your bike, wheels down promptly at 9:00 am.
The Trail at Lake Georgetown consists of 25+ miles of trail. The trail has a variety of terrain with little elevation changes, with some transitions to rocky, technical and sometimes tight single track with lake views, cacti, and even a switchbacks.
This trail is listed as one of the IMBA's two EPIC rides in Texas (Big Bend is the other) with a little bit of everything from flat to serious climbs, but nothing you can't hike-a-bike through.
