ARR - East Williamson Creek Trail Building
Details
Help the Austin Ridge Riders build the newest natural surface hike and bike trail in Austin. We will be clearing the trail tread through the East Williamson Creek Greenbelt. Note that the meeting location is on a residential street with limited parking.
Meet and park on Creek Bend Drive near 4907 Creek Bend. If you are late, go to the the short dead end street to the south, go thru the gate and follow the trail to the right. (We have cleared the tread here but it is getting over grown again.) After you cross the creek (about a 1/2 mile) turn right again to continue west. We will be working in that general area. If we make good progress, we might be 1/4 to 1/2 mile to the west of the creek crossing. Depending on turnout we may clear roots and limbs (move fast) or bench cut the tread (move slow). This will be heavy work. It is not appropriate for small children. Teenagers are fine.
Wear closed toe shoes because we will be digging in the ground. Bring water (camelback or water bottle) and gloves if you have them. ARR will provide tools (pick, shovel, lopers, etc.) Bring your own tools if you prefer your own tools. There is lots of poison ivy, chiggers and mosquito - dress accordingly.
For the TMBRA racers - this work cay is eligible for Pay Dirt hours for the 2018 season. Bring your Pay Dirt form.
