1st of Month Trail Change....ARR All Level Ride @ SATN 9:00 am

Details

This one-time waiver must be signed before joining ARR Group Ride Events (good through 2025)

This is a 1st of the month group ride change of venue. Typically, we ride at Walnut Creek except for the first Sunday of each month when we visit a new trail system. The remaining Sunday Rides for each month will be at Walnut Creek.

For February, we are visiting South Austin Trail Network which is home to 130 miles of single track! Thanks to Carl Zapffe for planned route and providing ride lead support. This is a great way to learn your way around SATN.

This is for all levels of adult riders 18 years and older. Under 18 years old may join only if accompanied by a Parent/Guardian at all times during the ride. We break into groups according to ability. Beginners are welcome, and we will not drop riders.

Sunday Rides will be canceled if trail conditions are wet or any Special Event falls on that day. RSVP to the event on Meetup.com to receive email alerts for any changes or cancellations. If you are interested in being a group ride leader, please see Renee Mocha or Abel Pardo at the group ride or send an email to: arr_rides@austinridgeriders.com

  • Helmets are mandatory!
  • Please bring plenty of water and electrolytes for the ride.
  • Please ensure your bike is mechanically sound.
  • Meet in the parking lot by the swimming pool.
  • The ride lasts approximately 1.5-2 hours.

Groups will start in following order:
Group A (Advanced): Steady pace, few stops, mainly active recovery.
Ride Distance: 16-18 miles

Group B (Intermediate): Steady pace with stops between trail segments. Riders should be comfortable riding varying and technical single-track terrain including medium to large rocks, roots, logs and medium to large drops. Skills practiced include body positioning, riding up and down rocks/ledges, wheel lifts (front and rear), fast cornering, switchbacks, endurance.
Ride Distance: 10-14 miles
Group C (Social Intermediate) Similar to Group B but with more frequent stops.
Ride Distance: 10-14 miles

Group D (Advanced Beginner) Riders should be comfortable with smooth trails but may need to walk the bike when there are small rocks, logs, roots, or when it gets steep. Skills practiced include shifting, braking and body position on climbs, descents and maneuvering over features like rocks and roots.
Ride Distance: 6-8 miles.

Group E (Beginner) There will be frequent stops for explaining technical features and trail etiquette. This is a good fit for riders new to mountain biking who have only ridden on dirt a few times or not at all. Skills practiced include shifting, braking and body position on the bike.
Ride Distance: 6-8 miles.

If you are not sure of your pace you can go with a faster group and then wait for next group coming up on the trail should you need to drop back.
