Advanced/Intermediate Level Ride at Emma Long

Details

We are continuing our Advanced and Intermediate ride series with Emma Long formerly known as City Park! This is a great way to test your skills at more technical locations than we typically visit. This ride is not for beginners!

These are black diamond trails. Expect lots of technical climbing and flowy descents with a main loop of 6 miles which can be made longer by adding other small trails.

Please BYOB, a grill, some food, a chair and plan to hang out after the ride with us!

This one-time waiver must be signed before joining ARR Group Ride Events (good through 2025)

This is for Advanced and Intermediate level adults 18 years and older. Under 18 years old may join only if accompanied by a Parent/Guardian at all times during the ride. We break into groups according to ability. We will not drop riders.

  • Helmets are mandatory!
  • Please bring plenty of water and electrolytes for the ride.
  • Please ensure your bike is mechanically sound.
  • Meet in the parking lot of Emma Long.
  • Wheels down at 8AM!
  • The ride lasts approximately 1.5-2 hours.
  • BYOB, grill, food, seating for post ride chill!

Groups will start in following order:
Group A (Advanced): Steady pace, few stops, mainly active recovery.
Ride Distance: 7-8 miles

Group B (Intermediate): Steady pace with stops between trail segments. Riders should be comfortable riding varying and technical single-track terrain including medium to large rocks, roots, logs and medium to large drops. Skills practiced include body positioning, riding up and down rocks/ledges, wheel lifts (front and rear), fast cornering, switchbacks, endurance.
Ride Distance: 6-8 miles

If you are not sure of your pace you can go with a faster group and then wait for next group coming up on the trail should you need to drop back.

Thank you to our Austin Ridge Riders members; your dues help us create ride events like this and supports trail development/maintenance and mountain bike advocacy in and around Austin and Central Texas. While ARR membership is not required to partake in our weekly group ride, we do encourage you to join. We are a local chapter of the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), so you will be a member of both organizations and enjoy the benefits offered through IMBA like:

  • Free digital subscription to Mountain Bike Action magazine, delivered to your inbox.
  • A discount on a new Subaru via our VIP program. Click here for complete details.
  • Discounts on over 100 brands of bike and outdoor gear through ExpertVoice.com.
