Ride Like A Girl - Circle C

Details

Our Ride Like A Girl Program (RLAG) hosts women-only rides that are focused on fun and skills development. We meet every Monday in the summer, unless it rains.

Riders break into small groups based on ability and hit the trail with experienced ride leaders. After the ride we regroup and socialize; BYOB and a chair if you want! Ride Like a Girl is completely self-supporting and estrogen powered! Rides are designed to be fun for ALL skill levels, from beginner to advanced!

This one-time waiver must be signed before joining ARR Group Ride Events (good through 2025)

Please Note: these rides are for adults only. We encourage girls under 18 to join their local NICA program or a similar youth program. All riders must bring a helmet, trail-worthy bike, at least 1 liter of water, and closed-toe shoes to each ride. All are welcome to bring a cooler with whatever cold beverage and a chair for a little social time after the ride!

This is a no-drop ride for all levels of rider. Please see below for a description of each skill level. If you have questions regarding equipment, clothing, skill levels or anything else that comes to mind, please feel free to leave a message below or reach out the the RLAG community via The Hub.

Thank you to our Austin Ridge Riders members; your dues help us create ride events like this and supports trail development/maintenance and mountain bike advocacy in and around Austin and Central Texas. While ARR membership is not required to partake in our RLAG group rides, we do encourage you to join. We are a local chapter of the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), so you will be a member of both organizations and enjoy the benefits offered through IMBA like:

  • Free digital subscription to Mountain Bike Action magazine, delivered to your inbox.
  • A discount on a new Subaru via our VIP program. Click here for complete details.
  • Discounts on over 100 brands of bike and outdoor gear through ExpertVoice.com.
  • 15% discount on Water-to-Go bottles.

What level rider are you?

  • Level 1: I am new to mountain biking and have only ridden on dirt a few times or not at all. I am excited to be introduced to the sport! Skills practiced… Shifting, braking and body position on the bike.
  • Level 2: I can handle riding on smooth trails but hesitate or walk my bike when there are small rocks, logs, roots, or when it gets steep. Skills practiced…shifting, braking and body position on climbs, descents and over features (aka rocks and roots).
  • Level 3: I am comfortable riding varying and somewhat technical, single-track terrain. I will ride over small rocks, roots, and logs (think curb size features) but don’t always know what I did to get through. Skills practiced… all of the above, small wheel lifts, small drops and control of the bike climbing and descending.
  • Level 4: I am comfortable riding varying and technical, single-track terrain. I will ride, or attempt to, over medium to large rocks, roots, and logs and down medium to large drops (think 1 foot and up sized features or several in a row). Skills practiced… body positioning, up and down rocks/ledges, wheel lifts (front and rear) , fast cornering, switchbacks, endurance.
  • Level 5/Advanced: Please consider joining us as a ride leader and/or sweep. We are always looking for new enthusiastic ladies to share our our love of all things bikes! Or, just come out to ride and hang with us and smile!

Why are the above rider levels important? We want everyone to have the best ride possible. If you are holding up your group, consider dropping down a level to work on necessary skills and fitness. If you are being held up by your group, move up a level and challenge yourself! If you are unsure of where to be, please talk to a ride leader!
