The Mountaineering Club of New York is teaming up with Alpine Endeavors to offer professionally guided Intro to Ice Climbing courses in the Catskills—just two hours from NYC. Perfect for first-timers and those looking to build confidence on bigger terrain, these trips combine expert instruction, adventure, and a friendly, supportive community.

Transportation
Meet at Rock and Snow in New Paltz at 8:30 AM to organize gear, then we carpool to the climbing location. A shuttle from New Paltz may be arranged at additional cost depending on the final group size.

Drive from NYC to New Paltz (about 1.5 hours)
Or take the 7:00 AM Trailways bus from Port Authority to New Paltz, then walk 10 minutes to Rock and Snow
