West Coast Swing Group Class - Beginner Thursdays

Beginner Thursdays West Coast Swing Group Dance Classes are for the absolute beginner, and also for beginners who want to cement their basics, learn variations, and start to move with the musicality of the music. Learn how you can use your basics to look and feel amazing on the dance floor :-)

Everyone is welcome to attend! We are Rainbow Friendly... it's all about getting on the dance floor!

We support degendering in dance, so you can dance whichever role you choose: Lead or Follow. Knowing both roles lets you understand the dance better, and makes you a better dancer :-)

West Coast Swing is a modern take on a version of Swing that is danced to current music you hear played on the radio and in the clubs. It is an educated lead and follow that is a conversation between the lead and follow, and which is danced "on the slot". West Coast Swing can even incorporate other dance styles and moves into it, and both leaders and followers have more ability to express themselves than in most other dances.

There is an awesome WCS community across Australia which comes together in different cities most months for a Competition Event. These events are not just for competitions, there are also workshops from amazing instructors, private lessons available from international competitive dancers, and lots and lots of social dancing!

Here in Melbourne, the community is based around West Coast Swing Melbourne who teach in Abbottsford on Monday nights, and Toniq Dance who teach in Ringwood on Wednesday nights... along with Dance With Pride who now teach in St Kilda on Thursday nights :-)

THIS CLASS TAKES PLACE EVERY THURS NIGHT AT AFRICAN DRUMMING ON ST KILDA RD IN ST KILDA FROM 7PM.

We will also add a half hour of social dance time to the end of group class where you can stop to mix, mingle, dance, and practice your moves! As classes pick up in volume we will add more social dance time.
