This Saturday, Move.Tallahassee is joining forces with Walk with a Doc for a free community walk at Cascades Park. This week's theme is gut health — something that affects every one of us.

Walk with a Doc is a national program built around a simple but powerful idea: get people moving while giving them a relaxed, informal chance to talk with real medical professionals. No appointment. No waiting room. Just a walk and a conversation.

This week, participants will walk alongside Dr. Amy Neal, Dr. Cielo Rose, and several other medical professionals — chatting one-on-one as the group makes its way through Cascades Park and the shaded paths of nearby Myers Park.

Dr. Rose will lead this week's discussion on gut health, diving into the science of the gut microbiome — the vast community of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microbes living primarily in the large intestine. Ecosystem for ecosystem, it is more diverse than a rainforest. While bacteria get most of the attention, every microbe plays a role: helping digest food, producing vitamins, and supporting the immune system. And no two people's microbiomes look alike, shaped as they are by genetics, diet, environment, and even the circumstances of how a person was born.

Whether you are a dedicated wellness enthusiast or just getting started, everyone is welcome and it is completely free. Bring a friend, a family member, or your favorite four-legged walking companion, and come explore Cascades and Myers Park while picking up some genuinely useful health advice along the way.
