Food Prep Volunteer Work @ FMSC Tempe

Details
This is primarily a volunteer event, less a social event.
The way these evenings tend to look so you can know what to expect:
-we meet briefly as a group
-they show a required training video
-we are called up by groups to a packing station, then pack the raw ingredients into bags, seal them, and prepare them to be shipped to countries in need. You can chat with the people beside you while working, but sometimes people are focused on their tasks. We'll try to stay together as a group, but sometimes we get split up based on the need and available spots at each table.
-workstation cleanup for a few mins (requires gloves, if you took your gloves off, can just wait a bit by the wall)
-optional prayer offered for food to get to destination safely, or can wait in lobby for a few mins
-Closing Session (~10-15min)
if you've never been to fmsc before, or never seen the Closing Session, I recommend everyone check that out at least once. They do do some asks for donations, but many times they'll also show pictures and sometimes videos of where the food is going, and sometimes a story/testimonial from someone who has received the food we pack. This is a great way to understand the impact and the "why" behind what we do here at fmsc
NOTE:
FMSC has moved and ARE NO LONGER IN MESA!
See addy for their new Tempe location
I'd like to more regularly try to volunteer at fmsc and try to do this or something similar every month or so. Feel free to join on in. The date and time will be updated as the day gets closer. FMSC tends to get filled up pretty easily, so some months may be skipped or the time slot may vary because of that.
At the time of writing or last I checked, there is (edit: xx) extra volunteer spots left outside of the spots I've already reserved. I can add you to my reservation, but if you sign up to go, please do show up so we do not needlessly take up a volunteer spot.
