Waltz - Ballroom Dance class

I'm planning to check out beginner and intermediate Waltz class over at NRG Dance studio (and also hang around for an hour or so after for the open social dance, where I'll usually do some WCS West Coast Swing). I'll toss it out on meetup in case anyone else also has interest to join in

No partner necessary, everyone dances with whomever shows up, and we rotate partners so you get practice with multiple ppl

Waltz is fun! Not as popular as some other dance styles, and you probably won't see it out in the wild. It's slower, so easier to pick up for newcomers, and I like that it feels regal.

That said, if you already have some social/ballroom dance experience, you can prob pick it up fine, but it may be a bit of a challenge to pick it up and keep up if you're new. I think for most ppl, if you're a beginner, just doing the first class is probably ideal and usually fine for most ppl, but the intermediate can be hard/frustrating if not used to it. Can also depend a bit on the instructor at the time. Just as a heads up for estimated expectations.

But if you come willing to learn, open to being corrected and making adjustments as needed, and open to just doing your best and to keep on trying, it should prob be fine. If you tell ppl you're new, they may hopefully be more understanding

The crowd at NRG tends to lean more on the older side, with an occasional young person here or there. There'll prob be 10-15ppl there, based on last time I went, though that was months ago

If you see me at another event and anyone would like to test or try learning the basics of waltz, wcs, etc at a slower pace, lmk, I am considering doing my own ballroom/social dance learning and practice classes, at some point in time
