Popcorn Reef & Cinematic Void present Dario Argento's DEEP RED (50th Anniv.)
Details
Popcorn Reef, Cinematic Void and Regal Edwards in Mira Mesa will celebrate January Giallo with a ONE NIGHT ONLY showing of Dario Argento’s (SUSPIRIA) horror masterpiece DEEP RED (50th Anniversary) starring David Hemmings (Blow-up), Daria Nicolodi (Tenebrae), Gabriele Lavia (Inferno), Giuliana Calandra (The Beast) and Macha Méril (Belle De Jour).
----
TRIVIA: The close-up shots of the killer's hands, clad in black leather gloves, were performed by director Dario Argento himself.
Co-writer Bernardino Zapponi said the inspiration behind the murder scenes came from him and Dario Argento thinking of painful injuries that the audience could relate to. Basically, not everyone knows the pain of being shot by a gun, but everyone has at some point accidentally struck furniture or been scalded by hot water.
In one scene David Hemmings walks past the Blue Bar at night. The bar is styled after the famous painting "Nighthawks", by Edward Hopper.
----
PLOT: A jazz pianist and a wisecracking journalist are pulled into a complex web of mystery after the former witnesses the brutal murder of a psychic. – IMDb
