TRIVIA
- On 7 August 2016, the film set a record as the first Korean film of 2016 to break the audience record of over 10 million theatre goers with a box-office of $93.1 million worldwide.
- Given that the film was the ninth most successful Korean movie in history, there was instant talk of a sequel, which director Yeon Sang-ho instantly refuted. Ironically, he would change his mind three years later and start work on Peninsula (2020).
- Train to Busan (2016) is director Yeon Sang-ho's first live-action film. Yeon's previous works were animated features.
- An animated prequel, Seoul Station (2016), also directed by Yeon Sang-ho, was released less than a month after Train to Busan was released.
