TRIVIA
- The film was shot on location in Athens, Greece, where the lingering economic crisis had left abandoned buildings, sunburnt metal, and aging infrastructure that the filmmakers felt perfectly embodied their vision of a worn-out, recycled future rather than a sleek technological one.
- Kirishima memorized all of her English-language dialogue phonetically without understanding the language, which gave her speech a robotic quality that Smoczynska found fitting for the mysterious nature of the character.
- Djonny's wardrobe was intentionally designed to feel like a costume rather than a personal identity, with each day's look derived from memories or fantasies, reflecting a man who does not know who he truly is.
- Djonny's entrance in the film is playfully set to "The Final Countdown" by Europe, establishing a theatrically comic tone for a character who visually resembles a cyberpunk anime figure rather than a conventional gritty detective.
