Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow) constructs a fantastical tale of sex, death and consequence in her abstract, modern day slasher TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA starring Gillian Anderson (The Last King of Scotland), Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Jack Haven (Downsizing), Jess McLeod (Normal), Zach Cherry (Severance) and Patrick Fischler (Mulholland Drive).

- Many of the Camp Miasma sequel titles as seen on the VHS tapes in the opening mirror the titles and of Friday the 13th sequels. Part II, 3D, The Final Chapter, A New Beginning, Little Death Takes Manhattan (Jason Takes Manhattan). Although the order isn't quite the same, with Miasma also having The Curse of Little Death and Psychic Warriors, which mirror other horror sequels (Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, and Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors).
- Schoenbrun's initial creative brief to production designer Brandon Tonner-Connolly was a single word: "Kwaidan," referring to a Japanese horror film famously shot inside a studio with elaborately constructed exterior sets and controlled painted backdrops.
- Rather than relying on VFX for the snow sequences, Schoenbrun insisted on practical snow effects, leading the team to hire a special effects supervisor known informally as the "snow guru of British Columbia," described as someone uniquely passionate about creating different types of snow in summer conditions.
- Little Death, the name of the villain, is a nickname for orgasm. This juxtaposition of sex and death is consistent with the film's title, as well as the tropes of the slasher genre, which typically liken violence to sex. It also spells out how the two main characters are unable to reach orgasm until they see themselves through the eyes of Little Death.
