After Work! Great Miami River Tipp City to Taylorsville Metropark Dam - 6 Miles
Details
Shake off the workday and join us for a mid-week paddle on the Great Miami River from Tipp City (GM 97.0) to the high side of the dam at Taylorsville MetroPark (GM 91). This is an efficient after-work run. We will stage quickly, shuttle efficiently, and get on the water as soon as possible.
Meeting Location
Put-in near Tipp City
Arrival Time
5:00 PM sharp. We will begin staging and organizing shuttle immediately. If you are running late, please understand we are launching as soon as shuttle vehicles are in place.
The Paddle
- Distance: Approximately 6 miles
- Duration: Expect 3–4 hours on the water
- Launch Goal: Around 5:45–6:00 PM depending on shuttle timing
- Finish: Approximately 9:00–9:30 PM
Sunset on June 3, 2026, is approximately 9:09 PM (EDT) in the Dayton area. Bring a headlamp in case we run late. Twilight will extend visibility somewhat, but be prepared.
Pace and Difficulty
We will maintain a steady but relaxed pace. This section is mostly flatwater with occasional riffles. Suitable for paddlers with moving water experience. You must wear your PFD at all times. This is not an instructional beginner paddle. River obstacles and strainers are possible. Good judgment and boat control are required.
Shuttle
There is no livery and no shuttle service. You must own your own kayak or canoe and be willing to assist with vehicle shuttle. We will organize cars efficiently to minimize delay. One or two paddlers may need to stay with gear during shuttle. Bring a towel to respect the vehicle owner you ride with.
