Muslims for Progressive Values is delighted to announce that registration is open for the 11th workshop in our online series, Progressive Islam Curriculum Live Workshop, led by educator and MPV Board Member Kendra Cordova.

Join us as we explore Lessons 3 and 4 of Unit 6, “Freedom of Religion and Belief,” from the Progressive Islam Curriculum. Participants will examine how freedom of religion and belief was understood and practiced across diverse Muslim societies, including the Ottoman Empire, the Iberian Peninsula, and Muslim-ruled Bengal. The workshop will conclude with a critical discussion of takfīr, unpacking its historical roots, its misuse over time, and the serious dangers it poses to both human rights and Islam’s core teachings.
