Please join us on Sunday 5/27/2012 Memorial Day Weekend at Marina Park. There will be a Potluck and all day BBQ! BBQ Station #3 has been fully reserved for the entire day. We will BBQ starting at 12pm for lunch and 5pm for dinner. The games will go to darkness. We need players to help with the BBQ stations/grills (see sign up list below). There is also another sign up list below for BBQ Potluck items. We need food (BBQ meats, vegetables, and other non BBQ type foods), beverages, ice, plates, napkins, utensils, etc. If you can help, please email me or RSVP with a note. Bring your friends and family and RSVP so we can get an estimate. We are prepared to set up to as many volleyball nets as needed. Bring lawn chairs so you can sit and eat comfortably. Message me directly at md208@yahoo.com if you want to help in any other way or bring more food. Thanks, Don

About the Group:

The Marina Park Volleyball group started in July 2010. Play is on sand and grass at Marina Park (San Leandro), every Sunday in any weather. The park is massive enough for at least 8 grass nets along with the 2 sand courts! We always seek to add more skilled players (B, BB, A, AA) and welcome C/Beginning players aspiring to improve.

Level of Play:

SAND COURTS: These are dedicated to doubles: B/BB or higher on the East court, and C/B or higher on the West court (when available). The winning team plays again (or has the option to relinquish to the next challengers).

GRASS COURTS: Generally, we have two for doubles (e.g., BB/A on one and B on the other). Most courts are for 3 to 6 players per side, typically C and/or B. For beginners (and children), additional courts and coaches are available for training and play; anyone is allowed to participate as long as he or she wants to learn the game.
Additional venues (C+ level and above):
Play is on sand only at Ocean Beach (San Francisco), Mission Bay Creek Park (San Francisco), Clark Kerr Campus (Berkeley), and Santa Cruz Beach. These special events are usually posted 2 to 5 days in advance.
