June Meeting with Poet Hakim

Hakim’s presentation will cover Poetry in its many forms. He will discuss self-publishing and will explore the fascinating adventure of taking things in your own hands.
ATTENDEES WILL BE SHOWN:
- The history of modern chapbooks
- Layout, structure, working with printers
- Promoting your work
- The limitations of online publishing platforms
Hakim is an OG L A Street Poet, an editor & publisher of books, chapbooks & ’zines. Longtime featured poet in Los Angeles, he currently is working on starting Featured Readings in Vallejo & Benicia. He is currently being considered for Poet Laureate of Benicia.
SCHEDULE
· 9:30 – Sign-in table opens
· 10:00 – End of (fiscal) year celebration, awards, and elections
· 11:00 – Feature Presentation
· 12:00 – Meeting Ends
Stay after the meeting until 1:30 for optional events. Meeting attendance is required to participate in optional activities.
