This is a beginner/intermediate ride organised in partnership with Matt (Ride Bristol) around Ashton Court, Leigh Woods 50 Acre and Abbots Pool.

There is a range of rider abilities and experience meaning the the pace can be slow/ steady or faster and the option exists to split into smaller groups of different abilities (depending on the group). Those riders who are more technical and know the routes can cycle ahead and we can meet at the end or alternatively stop and meet up in stages throughout the course.

The aim is to get out, have fun and encourage a good ride., share knowledge and experiences or mountain biking and of course socialise.

All standards of bikers are welcome, gravel bikes and hardtail bikes are preferable but hybrid bikes (with wider wheels) will also be ok. The trails are graded as ‘blue’ with some red sections - but the red sections are quite tame. On the trail, you have the option to continue with the blue section or opt for the short red section. If there are sections you wish to practice or master we can aim to give it a go and have a few re-runs at it.

The trails have a few steady climbs and a few faster flowing sections with a few drops and turns that can be good fun (drops are always optional). The trails are one way and they are signed pretty well, so navigating the course should be fine for anyone riding ahead.

It is important to note that this is not a guided or instructor led event.

Helmets are essential, bikes and helmets can be hired at a cost from Pedal Progression (next to the cafe at the top car park in Ashton Court) however check their opening times.

We meet at the benches outside the cafe at the top car park at Ashton Court (golf car park). There are new parking charges of around £2.40 for 2 hours or £4 for 4 hours. If you use the parking app ‘RingGo’ a small additional charge of around 20p is added.

In cases of poor weather such as rain, I’ll check in with the group to see if people are still interested in attending for the event to go ahead.

I carry a puncture repair kit and basic first aid kit, should we need to use it. Please ensure yiu have a well maintained bike and csrry basic maintenance equipment. It’sdvisible to make a ure you bring enough fluid to keep you hydrated and snacks to help keep up your energy levels although there is a mandatory coffee stop :).

By attending this event, you will be responsible your own health and safety and ensure that mountain biking does not exacerbate any health conditions. (Please notify me if you have any concerns / medical conditins that i should be aware of in case of an emergency) Mountain biking is not without risks you must be mindful that you take full responsibility of injuries that you may sustain in the event of an accident.
