Twrch trail, Cwmcarn. This is graded RED Theoughout the whole trail.
This is a red trail route that covers some technical (rocky and rooty) climbs and descents with step offs (that are rollable) the twch trail climbs approx 400m but in return for an unforgiving ascent offers some fast descents.

Ideally you should have ridden at least blue trails with some experience of red trails and be confident handling your bike with a knowledge of red trail demands.

(See trail descriptions here:) https://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/mountain-bike-trail-colour-grading-explained-i348

If you are new to Mountain biking and confident you want to try red trails, then thats great. There Is usually a mix of ability riders from slow/ pace to faster texhnical riding. Depending on the size if the group, we can split into smaller groups and ride at differentrent paces or chunk the trail into sections to re-group. This is not a competition it race but a social event to expose new Mountain bikers to new trails - share experiences and have fun.

The start time of 8:45 is the time we set off from Greville Smith park (South Bristol) at the back of Ashton
Stadium. We should then arrive at Cwmcarn around 9:45 for a 10:00am set off (we will meet outside PS CYCLES bottom car park at the above address) If a few people are keen to go, car sharing may be arranged. I have soape for 2 extra (light) bikes.

Expect to be riding for approx 4 hours at Cwmcarn, Leaving approx 2:30 for an arrival back in Bristol for 3:30pm.

Helmets are essential along with a well maintained bike. I carry basic tools and first aid kit but it will be ideal if you bring your essential maintenance gear for your bike as well as plenty of fluid for hydration, snacks for energy and suitable riding clothing for the forecast conditions

Mountain bikes with front suspension as a minium. Gravel / hybrid bikes are not recommended.
