Details
## Details *** Update - both speakers are now on start! ***
Precious information and cyber security MUC:SEC community members, friends, supporters and beyond, we are thrilled to invite you to our new in-person event. :)
SpaceNet AG, our amazing host for the evening, would generously provide us with a comfortable and spacious venue for the talks, networking and much more.
Two insightful talks, conducted in English and a great opportunity to network, learn, and share knowledge with a fellow information>cyber >security>tech enthusiasts, are a great reason not to miss out on this chance to connect with industry experts and expand your horizons.
We look forward to seeing you there!

_More information on the talks?
- *** First talk - Government sponsored Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) - Lessons learned from Russian war against Ukraine by Oleg Sipaylo (Cloud security architect @Microsoft Germany) ***
Cyber attacks are no longer isolated events; they are used alongside conventional military operations. Governments increasingly fund and train cyber units to engage in offensive digital campaigns. Russia’s cyber activities targeting Ukraine and Western institutions exemplify how cyber tactics have become integral to military strategy.
Cyber actors have evolved from simple hacking attempts to using advanced techniques such as artificial intelligence-driven intrusion methods, ransomware campaigns, and exploiting critical software vulnerabilities to gain persistent access. Technical walk-through of some publicly available campaigns and perspective on Global Arms Race in Cyber Defense included.
@About Oleg: Cloud security architect with 15 year’s experience, 10 of them spent deep in SecOps. Cybersecurity engineer by design, and a dedicated threat hunter by passion. A staunch supporter of logical and independent thinking, more about substance than a form, volleyball fan/coach.
- *** Second talk - Defense in Depth across Domains: Cybersecurity from Physical to Application Layer in Space, Air & Ground by Dr. Nils Mäurer (Chief Engineer Security @Airbus Defence and Space) ***
This talk explores cybersecurity across all OSI layers—physical to application—within military defence contexts on land, in the air, and in space.
Using real-world attacks on systems like ADS-B, VHF, MIL-STD-1553, and satellite terminals, it will be shown how failures at each layer can cause cascading disruptions, ground-based attacks exploiting unsecured communication protocols, highlighing the risks of neglecting security in legacy field systems.
From RF shielding and bus-level intrusion detection to AI-enhanced monitoring and quantum-safe cryptography, we will gain a domain-spanning perspective on building resilient, multi-layered cyber defences for military operations.
@About Nils: A Chief Engineer Security at Airbus Defence and Space, leading cybersecurity architecture efforts for space communications systems. He specializes in cybersecurity for critical infrastructure in the aerospace sector, with a focus on the development and standardization of secure communication protocols.
His previous work includes the design of the cybersecurity architecture for the L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System (LDACS).
This work was formally recognized in 2023 through its publication as an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RFC and its adoption into international standards by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In the same year, Dr. Mäurer was honored with the Single European Sky ATM Research Joint Undertaking (SESAR JU) Young Scientist Award (YSA) for his contributions to secure and resilient aeronautical communications.
In 2025, he was named an expert for end-to-end cybersecurity and resilience in space communications at Airbus Defence and Space.
