This month we have the great pleasure to welcome three speakers: Uwe Schnitker, Dmitrij Pesztov, and Andreas Weis to our user group.

Uwe has worked in different industries – transportation, medical devices, satellite navigation – writing code in C++ and a bunch of other languages. In 2017 he joined EOS GmbH, where he finally got the chance to combine his two passions for „modern, hardcore“ C++ programming and agile software development. Apart from occasional stints as a product owner, he works on developing complex C++ software for controlling state-of-the-art additive manufacturing machines. Uwe also manages the trainee (apprencticeship) program for the EOS software department.

Dmitrij has started his carreer as a trainee at Xitaso, and Junior software developer at Webb Traders, before finishing his masters thesis in computer science at the university of Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Andreas has worked for over a decade in embedded systems and safety critical software. He is an active member of the MISRA C++ Working Group, Rust Safety Critical Consortium and vice-chair of the Library Evolution Working Group of the ISO C++ committee. He works for ekxide IO on the iceoryx IPC middleware.

CUCKOO – My approach for using github Copilot with existing (C++) code (Uwe Schnitker)
David Heinemeier Hansson (aka DHH) announced at Rails World 2026 that the end of handwritten code is upon us. He also said that he doesn’t care any more about the programming language, because he never looks at the code any more; he just uses English as a programming language now, which he considers the ideal one.
While I agree with the first sentence, I don’t follow the second. I will let the AI agent do most of the writing, yes, but I still want to be able to understand the code, and to have a hand in shaping it, down to whatever level of detail I find useful. In short, when using github Copilot, I still want to be the pilot.
This talk is about the process I developed for myself to make this happen, which I sum up in the acronym CUCKOO.

Design an Order Book for Trading interview (Dmitrij Pesztov)
In this talk I will present a frequent task occuring in programming interviews for SWE role in Trading branch: Design a (Central Limit) Order Book. I will explain vital financial concepts and address the software and system design challenges that arise during implementation.

Barest Metal Deployment - Building A CPU From Scratch (Andreas Weis)
This talk is a report of a personal project for building a fully functional CPU in the video game "Turing Complete" that can run code written in real programming languages like C, C++, or Rust. We will discuss how to get started with such a project, where to find accessible information on circuit design, how to set up a development pipeline and firmware for custom hardware, and what lessons software engineers can learn from designing hardware.
