Darland Banks

Details

Darland Banks is the second walk in our series—a stunning nature reserve known for its steep chalk slopes and rich biodiversity. It’s a haven for rare butterflies and is also home to the protected Roman Snail, which you may be lucky enough to spot. A small herd of rare-breed cattle also grazes the area, helping to maintain the habitat.
From the top of the valley, you’ll enjoy spectacular views over Medway and beyond.
This walk includes very steep hills at the beginning, which some may find challenging, and a long downhill stretch halfway through. The chalk slopes can be unstable or slippery, especially in wet conditions, so please take care. Sturdy footwear is essential, and a walking pole may be helpful for added stability.
The walk is approximately 2.3 miles long and should take around one hour to complete.
