Details

Chatham Maritime offers a gentle, flat walk that is suitable for all ages and abilities. Located next to the Historic Dockyard, the route is steeped in maritime history and offers plenty to see along the way.
The area was originally marshland and has served many purposes over the years. As you walk, you’ll pass several notable landmarks:

  • The Bell Mast, once the foremast of HMS Undaunted, later used as a muster bell for the Dockyard in the early 1900s.
  • The Blue Boar Crane, a striking industrial relic.
  • The Pumproom and Chatham Maritime Marina, both offering glimpses into the area’s working past and present.

The route follows the river path, now part of the England Coast Path, continuing over the bunds and returning via the scenic boardwalk.
This walk is nearly 3 miles long and should take just over one hour to complete.
